Mastro de Paja Pipes

Mastro de Paja Pipes

Mastro de Paja was founded in 1972 by Giancarlo Guidi and Terenzio Cecchini in Pesaro. The name and the logo featuring a radiant sun are well known among pipe smokers worldwide. The workshop is the birthplace of the famous Pesaro pipe design. Here, well-known pipe shapes were given a new signature style: from then on, they were interpreted in a neoclassical manner and appeared lighter and more playful than the previously familiar classics of the austere English school.

In close collaboration with silversmiths, the pipes were lavishly adorned with precious materials. The artistic and creative standards were—and remain to this day—very high. In its early years, the brand underwent several changes in ownership but finally found stable footing in 1982, when Alberto Montini joined the company. More than three decades later, he still guides the company’s fortunes.

Only briar from the Mediterranean region is used in the manufacture of the pipes. The designs range from classic to semi-traditional. Silver rings are also frequently used, providing a harmonious complement to the Mastro de Paja logo. This logo resembles a silver sun and is incorporated into the handcrafted mouthpiece.

For many pipe enthusiasts around the world, Mastro de Paja is the epitome of aesthetic Italian design and extravagance.
