Bang Pfeifen

Bang, Kopenhagen (Denmark)

Svend Bang originally was a tobaccionist in Copenhagen. Only in 1968 he established a small workshop for pipes in connection with his tobacco shop.  Bang himself did not manufacture pipes. This was done by his employees Ulf Noltensmeier and Per Hansen. They both created and manufactured the now world-famous Bang pipes.

In 1984 Svend Bang retired and gave up business to Noltensmeier and Hansen.
Pipes are made only of best Bruyère mainly from Corisca.  Silver applications are often used and they produce them their own. Stems are all made of ebonite, no acrylic, synthetic amber or anything.
The pipes they manufacture are worldwide the most expensive and highly appreciated for their quality and excellent craftmanship. Annual production is about 300 pipes.

Pipes are graded 5 to 9 and A, B, C and D for the very best. Each Bang pipe bears the initials of the artist: UN (Ulf Noltensmeier) or PH (Per Hansen)  and the oval emblem.
